My site was HACKED!

Somebody hacked into my web hosting account and hacked all of my websites using Iframes. Fortunately google detected this and put a warning on all of my pages so that nobody would get hurt. Well I have cleaned this site and am working on the rest of my webpages. I don’t know how long ago this was done. I just found out about it yesterday. I wish google had a way to let site owners know when sites are compromised.

A day in the woods.

Saturday I spent the day in the woods with my two oldest sons, my brother and my dad. We were putting up some tree stands and moving some that were already up. The food plots that we planted a few weekends ago are growing well and show signs of deer. Last year we didn’t get to go deer hunting because I was working on “the house” in Vicksburg. I’m so glad that it sold quickly after we finished renovating it. The boys and I are really looking forward to getting into the woods this year.

One of the old tree stands that we took down was on a pine tree. I will never put another stand on a pine, it was covered with pine sap and was very sticky. Some of the other older tree stands need new seats put on them due to rot. The new ones we put up are made for two people to sit on and hunt. We now have 5 two man stands in the woods, the boys are not old enough to hunt alone. Even for just one person the two man stands are much more comfortable and easier to move around in. We will probably continue to buy the two man stands even when the boys are grown.

While we were working on the deer stands, the boys were exploring the woods around where we were working. They brought home the usual treasures that young boys find in the woods. They found many turkey feathers, a few mussel shells in the creek, and a baby bullfrog was brought home in a mini terrarium made from an empty water bottle, some dirt, moss, and twigs.

My oldest son proved once again that he is not old enough for a pocket knife. He could not keep it in his pocket and as a result he lost it in the creek. I can remember losing a few pocketknives myself when I was a young boy. I also remember breaking the tips off a few blades trying to use them as pry bars or screwdrivers. I guess I’ll be going back to Bass Pro Shop and getting him another cheap one. At least he is not taking it to school.

Spending the day at Geyser Falls!

In the past I have bought songs from musicmatch jukebox, yahoo, walmart, and iTunes. All of these songs had restrictions on which computers I could play them on or what I could do with the music. This was because of the Digital Rights Management or “DRM” which is the software that is designed to control or limit how a file can be played, copied, downloaded, shared, or accessed.

Now AmazonMP3 is offering DRM-free music. DRM-free means that the MP3 files you purchase from Amazon.com do not contain any software that will restrict your use of the file. I love the fact that I can save a copy of my music to a backup cd or dvd and not worry about having to back up the license that gives me the right to listen to the songs. In a few years when I buy a new laptop, I can just copy the songs to the new computer and they will play without any problems. No worries about having to transfer the license. These amazon MP3 files can be played in iTunes or windows media player. They are also compatible with all the portable mp3 players on the market.

Bravo Amazon for making music user friendly again.

I was rearended today!

As I was driving down cleary road today, I slowed to a stop behind the rural mail carrier as they were stopped putting mail into a box. I was stopped for about 15 seconds waiting for the oncoming traffic to clear so I could go on around the mail carrier, when I heard the sound of screeching tires and then felt a thud from behind. Everything that I had on my dashboard was all of a sudden on my floorboard. The damage to my truck was minimal, but the car that hit me received major damage. I’m sure it was totaled. She was quite shaken up but stated that she was alright. She refused transport to the hospital by ambulance. I hope her husband took her on to the ER though because her left arm was beginning to swell in a couple of places. She was in her vehicle alone as was I, but her husband showed up on the scene quickly. She told me that he was a member of the Richland police department.

UMC Candlelighters – Picnic at the zoo

Lots of fun was had by everyone attending the UMC Candlelighters 2008 Picnic at the Jackson Zoo today. The food was catered by Penn’s Fish House and they did a wonderful job feeding everybody. I attended the picnic with my wife and children and they got to meet some of the people that I work with at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for children. After the picnic we rode the train around Livingston Park and then we went into the zoo to see the animals and ride the carousel. It was a comfortable day and although it did rain some it was not enough to spoil our day. Many areas of the zoo was closed for renovations, but there was still plenty to see. I’m looking forward to next years picnic.

The UMC Candlelighters are a nonprofit organization of parents and friends of children with cancer that provides emotional, financial and educational support to families.

Spring Yard Cleanup

This weekend the kids and I did a lot of yard cleanup. We cleared brush and burned limbs, pine straw, and other yard debris. We managed to keep this burn barrel going for three days. The kids loved the outdoor activity and I enjoyed getting the grass cutting season off to a good start.

Field Trip to the Natural Science Museum

Today I chaperoned a third grade field trip for Michael’s class. I had three other active boys to keep up with in addition to Michael. We had a great time at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. The kids really enjoyed the aquariums and the nature trails. The kids got to watch a diver in one of the big fish tanks feeding the fish.
